A full education grant is awarded for one academic year, fully covers the cost of tuition from the state budget, and comes with the standard stipend.
A partial education grant is awarded for one academic year, covers 50 percent of the tuition-contract sum from the state budget, and does not come with the standard stipend.
An additional state grant is a grant for students of higher-education institutions' bachelor's programmes who, at the end of a given academic year, reach a GPA of 4 or higher and fall into a category set by the National Agency for Social Protection and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation; it fully covers the following year's tuition from the state budget and comes with the standard stipend.
A higher-education institution's own grant is a grant that a financially independent institution provides, for students of its bachelor's programmes in the set category whose GPA is between 3.3 and 4, covering 20 to 80 percent of the following year's tuition-contract sum from its own extra-budgetary funds.
Financially independent higher-education institutions provide up to 1 billion soums a year in such grants from their extra-budgetary funds.
The share covered depends on GPA: 20 percent of the tuition-contract sum for 3.3–3.39; 30 percent for 3.4–3.49; 40 percent for 3.5–3.59; 50 percent for 3.6–3.69; 60 percent for 3.7–3.79; 70 percent for 3.8–3.89; and 80 percent for 3.9–3.99.
Further documents on the grant allocation — the stage-one and stage-two grant distribution schedules — have been published on the university's website.
