About the department
The Uzbek Language and Literature department has been active since 2020. It first worked within the “Language Teaching” and then the “Foreign Languages” department, and was established as an independent department under Presidential Decree PF-6084 “On measures to further develop the Uzbek language and improve language policy in our country”. Its first head was senior lecturer Abdumalik Uzoqboyevich Kurbonov; in 2023 the department was led by I.A. Rasulova, PhD in Philology, and since 2024 by Sh.I. Jo‘rayev, PhD.
At first the department taught Uzbek, Uzbek for the professional field, Uzbek (Russian) and Russian; today it teaches close to twenty subjects, elective and specialist courses included. Its graduates work as teachers in the professional education system, in colleges and technical schools.
The department counts 12 teaching staff: one PhD, five acting associate professors, three senior lecturers, one lecturer and one trainee lecturer.
