For 3 December — the International Day of Persons with Disabilities — 180 students with disabilities from Samarkand's specialised vocational college, together with their teachers, visited Mirzo Ulugbek Samarkand State Technical University.
The visitors saw the university's teaching and research environment at first hand: its lecture rooms, laboratories and workshops, and its modern facilities. Staff of the dean of students' office, the university psychologist, faculty tutors and specialists of the Information Resource Centre met them and held talks and lectures prepared for the occasion.
University staff answered the young people's questions about their interests, their plans and choosing a profession, and set out in detail the facilities and the social support available to future students.
The visitors also saw the holdings of the Information Resource Centre, its electronic library and its digital learning services. Presentations were given on university life, on what student life is like, and on the university's research and creative projects.
The quizzes arranged in the main assembly hall were a success with everyone. Those who took part in the art therapy session, and the most active participants, received commemorative gifts. The college's teachers also discussed future cooperation with the university's academic staff.
