The Chinese company SUS Environment held a meeting at Samarkand State Technical University to recruit the class of 2026 and to set up placement programmes abroad.
Students of ecology and environmental protection, environmental engineering, the construction and installation of engineering utilities, the design and operation of water supply and sewerage systems, and occupational safety took part.
SUS Environment has extensive experience in the design, construction, operation and modernisation of waste-to-energy plants. Construction of its new “SUS Environment Samarkand” plant has begun: the project has drawn 150 million US dollars of investment, will burn 1,500 tonnes of waste a day and generate 240 million kWh of electricity a year on a 15-hectare site. The plant will create 150–200 jobs and is being commissioned in stages between 2025 and 2027.
The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for academic affairs M. Shodmonqulov, the dean of the Faculty of Construction J. Suyunov, twelve members of the teaching staff and some 350 final-year students. The SUS Environment delegation comprised general director Yao Qihao, project managers Gan Yu and He Qiude, documentation specialists Gao Xiaoyan, Munire and Chorlik, and training specialist Xiao Demian.
By the end of the meeting 93 students who wanted to work for the company had been interviewed. Forty of those selected are to be sent to China on placement in the first quarter of 2026.
