As previously reported, the university's Rector Dr. Chidem Turkyilmaz is continuing his working visit to the People's Republic of China. On 14 May 2025 the Rector visited Nanjing Polytechnic Institute in Jiangsu Province. At a formal reception held during the visit, a cooperation agreement on a joint education programme was signed with Nanjing Polytechnic Institute's Rector Dr. Zhang Wei, aimed at broadening cooperation between the two institutions, strengthening the activities set out in the existing memorandum of understanding, taking their joint projects to a new stage, and bringing the Chjenxe joint faculty established at the university into full operation.
Speaking during the meeting about the planned joint programme in Chemical Engineering, Rector Dr. Chidem Turkyilmaz noted that this cooperation is of great importance for training well-qualified engineers for the country's industry, and that such joint projects also matter as the fulfilment of the priorities set out in Presidential Decree No. PF-5847 of 8 October 2019, "On approving the concept for developing the higher education system of the Republic of Uzbekistan through 2030."
For reference: in 2023, during a visit by a delegation led by the Governor of Jiangsu Province, Xu Kunlin, a memorandum on developing cooperation between Samarkand Region and Jiangsu Province was signed. As part of that intergovernmental memorandum, the formal opening of the joint Chjenxe faculty — set up in cooperation between the university and Nanjing Polytechnic Institute to train personnel for the construction sector, upskill construction-company staff and jointly develop research in the field — was also held.
